Publication Ethics of the International Journal of Economic Studies
The International Journal of Economic Studies is committed to maintaining the integrity of scientific publishing. We encourage authors to refer to the international standards for authors established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The journal strives to maintain the highest standards of publication and research ethics by ensuring respect for all ethical principles and taking the necessary measures against any unethical practices.
The journal adopts universal ethical standards of conduct consistent with the guidelines recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). These standards apply to all parties involved in the publishing process, including researchers, the Editorial Board, and the Scientific Committee. Each party, according to their position and function, is required to comply with these standards and ensure adherence to them, while taking the necessary measures in cases of violation.
The journal follows scientific publishing ethics and ethical guidelines to ensure best practices that authors are expected to follow.
The journal adopts a code of ethics for scientific research and publication, as well as regulations governing the peer-review process. The selection of high-quality research that contributes scientific value to knowledge is carried out accordingly.
It is important for authors to adhere to scientific publishing ethics and avoid any form of plagiarism. In the event that plagiarism is detected, the journal shall take the necessary measures in accordance with the procedures commonly followed in such cases. Any affected party or person who discovers plagiarism may contact the journal directly for verification.
The journal works to prevent any conflict of interest. Therefore, authors must comply with the publication requirements by refraining from submitting their manuscript to any other journal until a decision has been made by the journal's Editorial Board. Authors must also adhere to the ethics of scientific research and publication, while avoiding any conflict of interest between themselves and the institutions sponsoring their research. Any such conflict must be disclosed to the journal when submitting the manuscript for publication.
The journal uses plagiarism-detection screening. Any manuscript that violates the journal's publication requirements will be rejected in order to prevent plagiarism and excessive textual overlap, in accordance with the standards of international journals.
The Editorial Team, Scientific Committee, reviewers, and publisher are responsible for maintaining confidentiality and avoiding conflicts of interest with any party, while adhering to objectivity, impartiality, and accuracy in every task assigned to them, from the initial submission of the manuscript until its final publication.
Peer Review
-
Please refer to the submission guidelines of the journal to which you wish to submit.
-
The journal does not permit the use of reviewers suggested by the author at any stage of the submission process, whether through the online submission system or other means of communication.
-
Reviewers must be experts in their fields and capable of providing an objective assessment of the manuscript.
The journal's policy is not to appoint reviewers for a scientific manuscript in the following cases:
-
The reviewer is affiliated with the same institution as any of the co-authors.
-
The reviewer is affiliated with the funding body of the research.
-
The author has previously recommended the reviewer.
-
The reviewer has provided a personal email account, such as Gmail, Yahoo, or Hotmail, and no institutional email account can be identified after a basic Google search using the reviewer's name, department, and institution.
Please note that the journal's editors are not obliged to invite any recommended or opposed reviewers to evaluate your manuscript.
Reviewers must adhere to the ethics of scientific research and publication by evaluating submitted manuscripts objectively and impartially, in accordance with recognized scientific standards.
Articles are reviewed by specialized reviewers according to the subject matter of the submitted manuscript.
Reviewers must complete their evaluations within the timeframes agreed upon with the journal's Editorial Board.
The journal must be provided with the academic profile of each reviewer, including academic degree, institutional affiliation, and country.
Reviewers must inform the Editorial Board of any conflict of interest upon receiving a submitted manuscript and before beginning the review process.
Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts throughout the review process.
The journal adopts a Double-Blind Peer Review model.
Editors' Criteria
-
Any manuscript submitted to the journal is accepted or rejected based on its scientific merit, originality, significance, rigor, and contribution to scientific knowledge, without bias.
-
Only manuscripts falling within the journal's research scope and interests are accepted.
-
Any ethical violation affecting manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal shall be reported.
-
Editors coordinate and communicate regularly with reviewers to ensure that manuscripts are evaluated accurately and efficiently, while maintaining the confidentiality of manuscripts of any kind and not disclosing the identities of reviewers or authors to any party.
-
It is important to follow the journal's editorial policies and respect all publication procedures in order to preserve the journal's credibility and the quality of the research it publishes.
-
Submitted manuscripts are subjected to plagiarism-detection software, with the required similarity percentage being respected in accordance with the publication requirements.
Publisher's Criteria
-
The publisher must adhere strictly to ethical standards of publication in order to preserve the journal's reputation and credibility.
-
The publisher provides all necessary support to the journal to promote and develop it and to safeguard legally protected publishing rights.
-
The publisher must intervene firmly and rigorously to prevent articles or publications that violate international ethical standards of publication.
Authorship
-
The list of authors must include all individuals who can legitimately claim authorship.
-
The author who submits the manuscript is responsible for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions concerning the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
-
Authors must satisfy the requirements of all the points mentioned above. Each author must have participated sufficiently in the work to assume general responsibility for the appropriate portions of the content.
-
When a large, multicenter group conducts the work, the group must identify the individuals who accept direct responsibility for the manuscript, and these individuals must fully meet the authorship criteria.
-
For authors submitting a manuscript, all parties who have made substantial contributions to the article must be listed as authors. Authorship, the order of authors, and other acknowledgments should be based on the relative scientific or professional contributions of the individuals involved, regardless of their status. A student should ordinarily be listed as the primary author of any multi-author publication substantially derived from the student's thesis or dissertation.
Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is the sole person who assumes primary responsibility for communicating with the journal during manuscript submission, peer review, and the publication process.
The corresponding author typically ensures that all journal administrative requirements are met, such as providing authorship details, ethics committee approval, trial and field-study registration documents, and properly completing conflict-of-interest forms and statements, although these responsibilities may be delegated to one or more co-authors.
The corresponding author is the person who signs the publication agreement on behalf of all authors and whose contact details are included in the article. The corresponding author must remain available after publication to respond to criticism concerning the work and cooperate with any requests from the journal for data or additional information if questions regarding the research arise after publication.
Plagiarism
The International Journal of Economic Studies takes issues involving copyright infringement, plagiarism, and other violations of best publishing practices seriously.
We seek to protect the rights of our authors and always investigate allegations of plagiarism or misuse of published articles. Likewise, we seek to protect the journal's reputation from misconduct.
Submitted articles may be screened using duplication-detection software. Where it is found, for example, that an article has plagiarized other work, included third-party copyrighted material without permission or adequate acknowledgment, or where authorship is disputed, we reserve the right to take appropriate action.
The journal emphasizes the importance and necessity of integrity as a fundamental principle governing all aspects of its mission. We continually strive to ensure transparency, objectivity, and fairness in the evaluation of research, while maintaining an unwavering commitment to honesty and respect toward all contributors to the scientific process, including researchers and reviewers.
Integrity and transparency are the hallmarks of our work and firmly established principles for advancing human knowledge.
Plagiarism and Similarity Screening Policy
The journal is committed to the highest standards of academic integrity and internationally recognized publication ethics (COPE).
All research submitted to the journal undergoes mandatory automated screening for plagiarism and academic misconduct before being sent to the peer-review process, using internationally recognized software.
Acceptable Similarity Percentage
The maximum permissible overall similarity percentage is 20%, provided that the similarity percentage from any single source does not exceed 2%, and that all quotations are properly documented and accurately attributed to their sources.
Procedures
Any research exceeding the permissible percentage, or in which intellectual plagiarism is established, will be automatically rejected at the initial screening stage (Desk Reject), and the journal reserves the right to take the necessary measures against the researcher in accordance with publication ethics.
Publication Ethics Charter and Misconduct Policy
Responsibilities of the Editorial Board
Objectivity and Academic Freedom
Editors are committed to evaluating research solely on the basis of its scientific and intellectual merit, objectively and without regard to the researcher's nationality, race, personal beliefs, or gender.
Strict Confidentiality
The Editorial Board undertakes to protect the data of submitted research and not to share any details concerning the research with any external party, except for the journal's approved reviewers.
Handling Misconduct and Errors
In the event of an ethical complaint concerning a submitted or published research paper, the Editorial Board is committed to opening a prompt and transparent investigation to resolve the issue in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and to taking the appropriate decision in a timely manner.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Supporting Decisions and Research Quality
The peer-review process requires reviewers to assist the Editor-in-Chief in making appropriate decisions regarding publication. Reviewers also provide researchers with clear advice to improve and refine their research by objectively reviewing manuscripts within their areas of expertise and research interests.
Timeliness
If a selected reviewer feels that they are not specialized in the subject of the research, or that they will be unable to complete the review within the specified timeframe, they must immediately decline the invitation and inform the Editor-in-Chief so that another expert can be given the opportunity.
This contributes to facilitating the manuscript review process and giving the author sufficient time to revise and amend the manuscript, ensuring that it meets high scientific quality standards.
Integrity and Objectivity
Research must be treated as highly confidential documents. Reviewers must prepare detailed reports in an objective and professional manner, supported by scientific arguments and free from personal impressions, biases, or opinions.
Responsibilities of Researchers (Authors)
Integrity of Results and Data
Researchers are responsible for presenting their scientific articles according to methodological principles and for adhering to accuracy and academic integrity in the construction of the article and presentation of its results. They must completely refrain from fabricating data or presenting misleading information and must be prepared to provide raw data for review when requested.
Originality and Prevention of Plagiarism
The researcher undertakes that the submitted work is entirely original and that any quotation or use of others' ideas has been properly documented and clearly acknowledged.
Plagiarism in all its forms is considered entirely unacceptable conduct. If plagiarism is established, the journal will take appropriate action in accordance with its ethical policies.
Prohibition of Simultaneous or Duplicate Publication
Researchers may not submit the same research to more than one journal simultaneously, nor may they publish a paper containing substantially the same results and methodology in two different journals, as this constitutes an explicit violation of academic publishing ethics.
Proper Citation of References
Researchers must accurately cite and document all sources, references, and previous studies relied upon in developing their research and include them in the designated reference list.
Participant Consent, Data Privacy Protection, and Field Research Ethics
The journal is strictly committed to ensuring that all research and field studies involving human participants, such as surveys, interviews, and observations, are conducted in accordance with international ethical standards.
Researchers must obtain explicit informed consent from participants, or from their legal guardians in cases involving minors or vulnerable groups, before beginning data collection, while adhering to the following requirements:
Full Transparency
Participants must be informed of the nature and objectives of the study and the expected duration of their participation, with confirmation of their full right to withdraw at any time without any consequences or liability.
Data Protection and Digital Confidentiality
Researchers must anonymize the identities of participants and de-identify personal data. The publication of any photographs, audio recordings, or data that reveal the identity of individuals or institutions is prohibited unless explicit written consent has been obtained in advance.
Institutional Approvals
Researchers must indicate within the manuscript that they have obtained approval from Research Ethics Committees (IRBs) or the relevant institutional authorities, where such approval is legally required.
Policies for Handling Plagiarism and Corrections Resulting from Automated Software Screening
Every research paper undergoes careful screening using internationally recognized software for detecting plagiarism and academic misconduct before being sent to reviewers. The research paper will be rejected immediately if it exceeds the permissible percentages in accordance with the publication requirements.
Corrections and Retractions
The journal is committed to publishing clarifications and corrections, or to fully retracting a paper from the journal's website and archive, if a substantial error or manipulation of scientific data is established after publication of the issue.
The journal also takes strict decisions in such cases. These ethical policies have been formulated based on the Core Practices and international guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Procedures for Breaches of Publication Ethics
Anyone may submit a complaint concerning a violation of publication ethics to the journal's Editorial Board.
The person submitting the complaint must provide supporting evidence.
Any complaint must be taken seriously by the Editorial Board and addressed through to its conclusion. Complaints shall be handled regardless of the publication date of the research concerned.
The supporting evidence submitted as part of the complaint must be retained and archived by the Editorial Board.
Procedures That May Be Implemented in the Event of a Complaint
-
Interviewing the article author if the complaint arises from a misunderstanding of the journal's ethical rules or publication guidelines.
-
Sending a written notice to the author detailing the alleged violation of publication ethics, which shall serve as an initial warning.

Article Corrections (Errata & Corrigenda)
Unintentional errors reported by authors or readers that do not affect the scientific validity of the research shall be addressed at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief.

Article Removal (in Compliance with Legal and Judicial Provisions)
In exceptional and extreme circumstances, the journal reserves the right to remove a published manuscript entirely from its website.
This measure shall be limited to cases in which it is legally established that the article contains defamatory content, violates privacy laws, or infringes the intellectual property rights of other parties, based on a binding court judgment.
In such cases, the full text of the article shall be deleted and replaced with a notice stating that the manuscript has been removed for legal and judicial reasons.
Article Replacement
If an article contains erroneous methodology or data that could pose a real risk or public harm if applied or relied upon by others, the journal may, in consultation with the authors, retract the manuscript and replace it with a fully corrected version, while maintaining a transparent historical record of the document.
Administrative and Institutional Sanctions in Cases of Academic Misconduct
